IEISHAH CLELLAND, Language and literature teacher, New York City.
This is supposed to be a biography of me, but I've always believed biographies were to be written by erstwhile scribes after the subject was dead. or at least, 'still'. But I'm not dead. And I'm never still. My life is always in constant flux. I write (mostly about world music and global culture). I dance (once as a professional contemporary dancer, now mostly just salsa with old latin men). I teach (equal parts language and literature). And I trot the globe. A lot. I've lived in six countries over the last 12 years. These days I call Barcelona home. Even as I write this, I'm planning the next migration. There is, however, one thing that never changes. Wherever I go, I'm the BROOKLYN-born baby girl of two caribbean super-educators. So there's that.
